Stuck on something? Most issues are covered below — and if not, the email at the bottom of this page reaches a real human within a business day.
Open the app, tap Sign up, and enter your email + a password. We'll send a confirmation link. Once confirmed, you'll go through a 2-screen onboarding to pick your target language and current level — about 30 seconds.
English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, Russian, Polish, Arabic, Hebrew, Turkish, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Azerbaijani, Georgian. New languages are added regularly — you can switch your target any time in Settings → Languages.
Tap the chat icon on the Home tab. Pick a topic (cooking, travel, small talk, etc.) or type your own. The tutor builds a 12-card practice deck targeted at your weak spots and drops you straight into a study session. Generation takes ~5-15 seconds.
On any flashcard, tap the microphone button to record yourself saying the word or phrase. We send the audio to Google's Gemini multimodal API, which scores accuracy and returns targeted feedback (e.g. "your r is too soft — try rolling the tongue tip"). Audio is not stored — only the score is logged for your progress chart.
In the app: Profile → scroll to the bottom → Delete account, then type your account email to confirm. On the web: Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete. Deletion is immediate — your sign-in, profile and every learning record are erased at once. Billing records, scrubbed support tickets and anonymous usage counts are kept; the full list is at /legal/delete-account. Public-facing decks you authored stay in the community library with attribution removed.
On the web: Settings → Privacy & Data → Download my data. You'll download a JSON file containing every record tied to your account: profile, decks, cards, progress, tutor chats, badges. Export is not yet available inside the mobile app — sign in on the web with the same account.
Yes — Settings → Profile on the desktop site (the mobile app inherits the desktop change). You'll need to confirm the new email via a verification link before the change takes effect.
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? — we'll email a reset link. Links expire in 30 minutes.
Force-close the app and reopen it. If that doesn't fix it, uninstall and reinstall — your progress is on our servers, not local, so you won't lose anything. If the issue persists, email us with your device model + iOS version.
iOS only asks once per install. If you previously denied it, go to Settings → FlipFluent → Microphone and toggle it on. If you never saw the prompt, restart the app and tap the mic button on a flashcard — that triggers the first request.
Streaks roll over at midnight UTC, not in your local timezone. If you studied past midnight UTC the day before, the system counted it as the next day. We're working on a per-user timezone fix — for now, Settings → Streak Freezeslets you protect a streak that should have counted.
AI models (Gemini, GPT, Claude) occasionally hallucinate. Tap the flag icon on a card to report it — we use those reports to improve the prompts. For high-stakes content (exam prep, professional vocab), we recommend cross-checking against a dictionary.
Settings → Profile → Default audio speed sets the playback rate. Auto picks based on your CEFR level (slower for A1/A2, native for C1/C2). Each card's speaker icon also has a 1x/0.75x/0.5x toggle for one-off adjustments.
The core app is free — flashcards, drills, stories at your level, AI tutor, pronunciation feedback. Some advanced features (unlimited custom deck generation, priority TTS, family sharing) are part of a paid tier rolling out soon.
App Store subscriptions: iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → FlipFluent → Cancel. We can't cancel App Store subscriptions on your behalf.
Email hello@flipfluent.online with as much context as possible: device model, OS version, what you were trying to do, and a screenshot if you have one. Real humans read every message; expected reply time is one business day.
